Como Zoo

Today we spent the day at Como Zoo. Kali enjoyed seeing all the animals especially the tiger ( in the picture) sleeping against the glass window! She said, " Get up and play with me!" Ummm...probably not!!

After seeing the animals and having lunch we went to the carnival/park that is attached to the zoo. Kali loved going on the rides and kept saying, " I want my brother to sit next to me on the ride!" It was so cute, but we kept saying, " He is still too little, when he gets a little bigger."

We left the zoo about 2:00 or so, and both kids were asleep in their car seats within 2 minutes! What a fun day for our family!

Cody loved playing at the park in this tunnel!

He is so happy!

One of the rides Cody could ride with his sister!

Long Weekend

I look forward to the long weekend with my family. What does it include? Right now nothing...perhaps some projects around the house, maybe an outing to the zoo or something fun, but really just some much needed family time. With only 8 days of school left with students, Andy and I are tired and excited for the long weekend.

We have been spending many hours outside this spring so far. Playing in the sand box on the deck has been a big hit! The weather has been lovely and we are taking advantage of it by going to the park, on walks, and bike rides. The other night we rode our bikes and pulled the kids in the kids in the bike trailer to the Dairy Queen and got a treat. Kali loved this!

The other day Kali thought she should bring all the toys on the deck to play! Here are a few of them playing on the deck!

First Dress Shopping

Today I took my daughter dress shopping for the first time. I know there will be many other times that we do this, but today was the first. Benji (Andy's twin brother) is getting married this summer and Kali is the flower girl. We have been prepping her all week for this day to go shopping with mom for her new dress so she was very excited. We tried on about 7 dresses and decided on that last one. We did order a blue sash/bow to match my dress and the other bridesmaids. She loved it, she was running up and down the ramps in David Bridal squealing with excitement. After dress shopping we went to Chuckie Cheese for the first time. It was a pretty special day. As I pulled the first white dress over her head today I almost got a little choked up as I felt myself fast-forwarding 20+ years to helping her with her wedding dress. I want to cherish the days that she really is my little girl!

Working Mother

So I have told you before that being a stay at home mom is the hardest job, which I still agree with, but being a working mom is pretty tough too. I am exhausted. I can't keep all the balls in the air at the same time. So many little things that go along with the big things ( kids, work, husband, house), getting to store, figuring out what we are having dinner, washing clothes, cleaning for showings, ( NOPE STILL haven't sold yet...had an offer a few weeks ago at $30,000 less than our asking...not worth it for us!) I am very thankful it is the weekend!

Where have I been?

Kali loves to pretend she is shopping!Takes after her grandmas! Look out!

Cute picture of Cody! He is such a good boy!!

I know if you actually check my blog often you keep thinking..no new post..what is going on? Things have been a bit busy around the Merfeld House! Andy is completely swamped with work. He is hiring 8 brand new staff in his building, plus about the same in the other building, doing a million things to get ready for next year, plus still trying to do all his assistant principal duties. I am working full-time as my job share partner is experiencing some high risk pregnancy concerns, (Please Pray about this!)Our house has suddenly had many showings so we are constantly cleaning, ( which is good thing..but also very stressful), plus next week I start a 2 week jury duty term. When I first got the letter a few months ago I was very excited, but now I hope that I don't have to go as the thought of making sub plans for a few weeks makes me sick.

The kids are good. Last week Cody came down with a bit of a bug. He went to Urgent Care 2 times in 2 days since his temp was 102.5. Kali is doing well with her big girl bed. She gets up a few times before bed with the water or potty excuse but for the most part is going really well. Naps are sometimes a different story, but they already weren't so great!
